Battery disposal services
Every battery type that comes out of a vehicle, from a single 12V car battery to high-voltage EV packs that need specialist handling.
Car batteries are hazardous waste – they can't go in a skip or a bin
A standard lead-acid car battery contains around 10 kg of lead and several litres of sulphuric acid. Under UK law it is classed as hazardous waste, which means it must be stored, transported and treated by licensed operators and tracked with a consignment note from your premises to the recycler.
The good news: lead-acid batteries are one of the most recyclable products in the world. Over 95% of the lead, plastic and acid is recovered and goes back into new batteries. We make sure yours get there – legally, safely and with the paperwork to prove it.
Registered waste carrier, hazardous waste consignment notes on every job, and an audit trail from collection to recycling.
A single battery from a home mechanic or weekly pallet collections from a dealer group – priced for the volume you actually have.
England, Scotland and Wales covered through Waste Cloud's network of licensed, vetted local partners.
Lead has real scrap value. Regular trade customers with good volumes can earn a rebate rather than pay for collection.

Old car batteries, dealt with properly
Every year millions of lead-acid car batteries reach the end of their life in the UK. Most are swapped out in garages and workshops; plenty more sit in sheds, lock-ups and yards because nobody is quite sure what to do with them. They cannot go in a skip, a wheelie bin or a general waste collection – and leaving them to leak is a real environmental and safety problem.
CarBatteryDisposal.com exists to make the right thing the easy thing. Tell us what you have, and a licensed waste carrier collects it, the hazardous waste consignment note is completed, and the batteries are recycled at a permitted facility. You get the paperwork you need to prove your duty of care, and the lead, acid and plastic go back into new products.
Lead-acid, hybrid and electric
We handle conventional 12V and 24V lead-acid batteries from cars, vans, trucks, motorbikes, boats and plant, plus AGM and EFB start-stop batteries. We also arrange specialist collection of lithium-ion hybrid and EV traction batteries, which need trained handlers, UN-approved packaging and different downstream treatment. If you’re not sure what you’ve got, send us a photo.

CarBatteryDisposal.com is run by Waste Cloud Ltd, a UK waste management broker working with licensed partners across England, Scotland and Wales. The same team handles skip hire, hazardous waste, WEEE, fuel and vape recycling – so if you have other waste on site, one call covers it.
About Waste CloudCar battery disposal questions
Can I put a car battery in a skip or my household bin?
No. Car batteries are classed as hazardous waste in the UK and are banned from skips, wheelie bins and landfill. They must be collected by a registered waste carrier or taken to a facility licensed to accept them.
How much does car battery disposal cost?
It depends on type, quantity and location. Lead-acid batteries have scrap value, so trade customers with regular volume often receive a rebate rather than pay. One-off collections of small quantities carry a collection charge. EV and hybrid packs are priced individually. Send us the details and we will quote in writing.
Do I get paperwork?
Yes. Every collection comes with a hazardous waste consignment note, which is your legal record of what was collected, by whom and where it went. Recycling certificates are available on request.
Where do you collect from?
Anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales. Waste Cloud works with a vetted network of licensed local carriers, so a collection can usually be arranged within a few working days of your enquiry.
Do you collect from householders?
Yes, although for a single battery it is often cheaper to take it to your local household waste recycling centre, most of which accept car batteries free of charge. If you cannot transport it, or you have several, get in touch and we will quote.
